Yogi Khatiwala & Raj Khatiwala
This endowed scholarship was established by Pravin Khatiwala to honor his late wife, Jaybala. Upon Pravin’s passing, his sons, Yogi and Raj, renamed the scholarship to honor both of their parents. The Jaybala and Pravin Khatiwala Memorial Endowed Scholarship Fund honors and pays tribute to the love and lives of Jaybala (Jay) and Pravin (Pete) Khatiwala, who were married for 46 years. Pete is fondly remembered as a loving husband and father and caring and compassionate friend. Jay was his biggest and proudest partner in life, and his best friend. Jay and Pravin immigrated to the United States in the early 1970’s. Jay was a student of mathematics and completed postgraduate work in statistics. She began her career as an auditor. Pete started his career as an engineer in India but had to start over when he arrived in the United States. He worked as a janitor, attended college in New York and went on to build a successful company in the Atlantic City area, becoming a well respected member of the community and public figure. Through perseverance and years of hard work, Jay and Pravin achieved the American Dream. Together, they succeeded in business and raised a beautiful family. Through this scholarship the Khatiwala family honors their legacy and passes down their love of education.
