Stuart & Rita Stromfeld

Stuart & Rita Stromfeld

Rita and Stuart Stromfeld established the Helen and Murray Fassler Memorial Endowed Holocaust Studies Scholarship in memory of Rita’s parents, Helen and Murray Fassler. Helen and Murray Fassler were Holocaust survivors from Poland who after arriving in America settled in Brooklyn, New York, and later Queens. They supported their family in America using their tailoring skills; Helen worked as a seamstress and Murray was a tailor. Helen and Murray Fassler were appreciative and grateful for being able to immigrate to America. Helen and Murray were blessed with the birth of two daughters in America, Blanche and Rita. Their parents often shared stories with them about their challenges during the Shoah and the lessons they learned through the stories of a time when survival was a miracle during the Holocaust. In the fall of 2022, the book, My Mother’s Words, was published with many small chapters of stories told by mostly Helen to Rita, Blanche, and Rita’s friends.
