Mr. James Watson ' 76

Mr. Watson is proud to offer this scholarship in honor and memory of his wife, Winnie, and to help provide a Stockton education for students who share his and Winne’s dedication to strengthening criminal justice, ensuring public health and protecting the environment.

James S. Watson graduated from Stockton in 1976 with a degree in Environmental Science. Mr. Watson is a retired NJ State Trooper and has a passion for both justice and the environment. An active member of the NJ Bluebird Society, Mr. Watson helps band and then track the migration habits of bluebirds for entry into a national database. Mr. Watson is also an active member of the Purple Martin Conservation Association and manages several purple martin colonies throughout South Jersey.

Winifred E. (Bellino) Watson (Winnie) graduated from Stockton in 1980 with a degree in Biology. She worked in various laboratories throughout South Jersey conducting water tests and quality control. She later was employed with the Atlantic County Health Department. Her responsibilities included conducting inspections of restaurants, food trucks, street fairs, campgrounds and swimming pools. She also investigated potential health hazards and provided information and education on Environmental issues. She became a supervisor in the septic program of the Environmental Health Unit. She was proud that she was able to address the protection and prevention of environmental factors that may adversely impact human health or ecological balances.
