Michael Azeez
Michael Azeez established the Sam Azeez Museum of Woodbine and Azeez Foundation to promote Holocaust and Jewish Studies in the South Jersey locale.
Azeez, a longtime supporter of the Museum of Jewish History of Woodbine (MJHW), founded the Sam Azeez Museum of Woodbine at the Brotherhood Synagogue to support the MJHW’s efforts in this historical location. The Woodbine Brotherhood Synagogue preserves the history and celebrates the legacy of the late 19th century wave of immigration, which brought Russian-Jewish settlers to the area. This settlement developed as an agricultural colony under the auspices of the Baron de Hirsch Fund. The Sam Azeez Museum focuses on hate/prejudice reduction and education, immigration and community development, and serves as a designated teaching center for the New Jersey Commission on Holocaust Education.
The Azeez Foundation recognizes the important work of Stockton University’s Sara & Sam Schoffer Holocaust Resource Center. Its goal is to share in meaningful collaboration between the two and bolster the work of the Center’s activities. Furthermore, the Azeez Foundation sponsored the development of the Liviu Librescu Room, dedicated in memory of Professor Liviu Librescu.
