Marian Reinheimer
The late, Mrs. Marian Reinheimer ‘91, established the Anne L Reinheimer Scholarship endowment for the benefit of Stockton University students through her estate plan. Anne was born with a congenital brain defect and she suffered with seizures all her life. However, her intelligence was not impaired. She graduated Upsula College in East Orange with a degree in Social Work. (Note: declining enrollments and financial difficulties forced the school to close in 1995.) “She was, without a doubt, the bravest person I ever know,” said Mrs. Reinheimer. "She never complained, never said ’why me’."
She was married for about 10 years. The marriage deteriorated as Anne’s condition deteriorated but she had some good, happy years. Anne had a sense of joy that could not be suppressed. She tried to live as normal a life as possible. She even travelled to Mexico by herself.
Eventually, Anne had to be institutionalized and she became a senior resident at May House. Early in 2015, Anne suffered a very serious seizure and she was hospitalized. Some surgery followed and, unfortunately, Anne succumbed and died at the age of 63.
Since Marian Reinheimer’s passing, recipients of this scholarship may address their thank you letter to The Estate of Marian Reinheimer.
