Engelberg Foundation

Engelberg Foundation

The Engelberg Foundation is a charitable trust founded by Alfred Engelberg to make philanthropic grants in health, education, the arts, and other fields. Alfred Engelberg’s parents were Jewish refugees who were fortunate to leave Germany in 1938. Mr. Engelberg grew up in Atlantic City and credited his childhood in Atlantic City for providing him with the tools for a successful life. Mr. Engelberg believes that the opening of a Stockton University campus in Atlantic City is a pivotal moment in the history of Atlantic City. For students who could not afford to go away to college, it creates the opportunity to obtain a high-quality education locally. For the community, it creates the opportunity to identify talented young people who are lifelong residents of Atlantic City and provide them with an educational experience that will enrich their lives and their connection to the community.

Impact

The Engelberg Leadership Scholarship Program is a scholarship program and enriched educational experience. This scholarship is open for local residents, with a preference for students from Atlantic City, with financial need and the potential for leadership with the goal of producing future generations of community leaders.
