Daughters of the American Revolution General Lafayette Chapter
The Daughters of the American Revolution, is a devoted service organization with a long history promoting historic preservation, education and patriotism. Dedicated to volunteerism, the Daughters of the American Revolution raise awareness and money for veterans causes nationally, at the state level, and here at home. Locally, the Daughters of the American Revolution General Lafayette Chapter in Somers Point is 125 years old with more than 100 members. The members visit monthly with the residents of the Vineland Veteran’s Home, provide them requested items, sends each resident a birthday card (approximately 300 per year) as well as a Christmas/Holiday card, and sends donations to Second Wind Dreams that fulfills wishes for elderly veterans. The chapter hosts a stop each year on New Jersey’s Run for the Fallen, members hand out “Super Stars” each Veteran’s day, participate in Operation Stand Down, Wreathes Across America, clip coupons to send to military families overseas, and collect, box up and ship wish list items for Operation Gratitude.
